it often means something is happening underneath the surface.
Tantrums to Talking to stop intense tantrum cycles and facilitate emotional development and coping skills.
Through a brain-body developmental approach, children learn how to move through frustration, communicate more effectively, and recover from big feelings more easily and quickly while building lifelong regulation and communication skills.
When Tantrums Feel Bigger Than Expected
Many parents come to me after trying everything they know.
They’ve read the parenting books.
Tried the online tantrum advice.
Ignore the tantrum.
Stay calm.
Follow through with the boundary.
And yet the meltdowns still feel intense, frequent, and out of control.
And it leaves you feeling overwhelming, exhausted, even helpless during tantrums.
Maybe your child:
• has tantrums that keep going and don’t stop even when you use tantrum strategies
• becomes extremely upset when things change or when they don’t get what they want
• struggles with transitions or moving from one place or activity to another
• screams, cries, collapses or whines when frustrated
• seems overwhelmed by everyday moments
The Missing Piece Behind Most Tantrums
Intense, frequent toddler tantrums rarely happen because a child is “strong-willed” or “deeply feeling.”
Tantrums also aren’t happening because you’re doing something wrong.
More often, intense, long tantrums happen when developmental skills are still being learned and your child hasn’t developed certain skills and coordinated them into their everyday moments.
1-5 year olds are still learning how to:
• regulate and calm strong emotions
• communicate their needs and frustrations
• cooperate, listen, and build coping skills to deal with frustration
• stay organized and calm when leaving or transitioning from one place or activity to another
• slow their body when feelings become overwhelming
That’s why focusing only on stopping the tantrum in the moment often doesn’t create lasting change.
Real change happens when we strengthen the skills underneath that are feeding into tantrum cycle.
A Brain-Body Approach to Tantrums
Tantrums to Talking focuses on supporting the developmental systems that shape how children handle frustration, communication, and emotional intensity.
Through this process, children begin to develop:
• stronger emotional regulation so that outings to places like birthday parties and restaurants becomes easier and less stressful
• clearer communication that comes easier and quicker
• improved coping skills
• smoother, easier transitions from one place or activity to another
• the ability to recover, repair, and move on more quickly after a hard moment
• Increased cooperation and listening skills so that everyday tasks and routines are easier
Parents often begin to notice shifts in their child’s daily behavior and emotional resilience right away.
What Parents Have Noticed
As these foundational skills strengthen, families frequently see:
• shorter tantrums lasting 1-3 minutes followed by calm and ease
• easier outings to restaurants and birthday parties without tantrums and meltdowns
• communication replacing creaming, crying, or whining
• smoother transitions between activities, places, and routines
• less stressful back-and-forths and more listening and cooperation
And most importantly:
A calmer, easier everyday moments with your child inside and outside the home.

Inside the program we focus on strengthening key foundations such as:
• communication skills
• emotional regulation
• interaction and engagement
• listening and flexibility
• slowing the body when emotions rise
• navigating frustration and transitions
This work builds the foundation for emotional and cooperation skills that will have far-reaching effects into toddlerhood, later childhood, and adolescence.
Why Early Childhood Matters
The toddler and preschool years are one of the most important windows for emotional and communication development.
During this time, the brain and body are rapidly building the patterns that shape how children respond to stress, frustration, and relationships.
Supporting these systems early can have lasting effects on a child’s ability to navigate challenges throughout childhood and beyond.
